The founding pastor, Pastor Philip Kuruvilla, is still the pastor of the church. He provides overall leadership guidance to ensure that the Church for the Nations adheres to its vision, mission and statement of faith, and follows Biblical principles and the guidance of the Holy Spirit when conducting its affairs. Working closely with Pastor Philip is his wife, Alice.

Pastor Philip Kuruvilla is from Kerala, India. Born in a pentecostal family with his father as a minister of the Gospel, he had a heart for the Lord from an early age. At the age of 10 he was baptised in the Holy Spirit and received a prophetic word and a call to be a prophet to the nations. He was filled with a genuine love for Jesus Christ and his destiny was forever set. After graduating from a University in Kerala, he started working as a Scientific Assistant in the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (Mumbai). Soon after he heard God confirming the call upon his life and in obedience he left his job and moved to New York City in the USA where he studied the Word of God at "Long Island Bible School".

After his Biblical studies, he joined the United Nations. While in New York, he established the "India Christian Assembly" in the United Nations Church Centre and held various positions and later became the Vice President of the "India Christian Assembly". Together with a few brethren, he was also instrumental in founding the "Pentecostal Youth Fellowship of America" and was its founding Secretary. While working in the United Nations he studied for an MBA degree from the Long Island University, New York.

In 1981 he heard the Holy Spirit speaking to him and saying that the Lord was going to send him to Europe the following year. He obeyed the voice of God and in June 1982 the Lord gave him a promotion in his job at the United Nations, which required him to move to Geneva. His wife left her job in New York and the whole family left schools, friends and the Church that they had loved and labored to establish, and sold their house in New York to move to the city of Geneva, Switzerland.

He was compelled by the Holy Spirit for several years to start a Church in Geneva for all nationalities and it was confirmed to him through several prophetic utterances from men of God from different nations. Finally, in July 1992, under the leading of the Holy Spirit, with the help of a handful of brethren, he started the "Church for the Nations" which grew quickly in number and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Philip has a heart for all the nations of this world. The Lord has led him to start and support various ministries in Asia, Africa and the Eastern Europe.
He has a special concern for all those who have been made captive through drugs, alcohol, witchcraft and idolatry. A great part of his ministry is to bring deliverance in the Name of Jesus Christ to those who are oppressed by Satan.

Pastor Philip and his wife Alice have two children, Tissa and David, and the Lord has blessed them with three lovely little granddaughters, Sara, Naomi and Kaila.
